The press-fit type depends on the material.
Press-fittings can be installed 40% more quickly (a press fitting is done in less than 7 seconds) and 20% less expensively than traditional solutions. Also, the press-fitting procedure, which involves no flame or fumes, promotes greater site safety and improved working conditions.
The installation conditions recommended by Comap for the MultiSkin system of multilayer tubes and press-fittings are in technical guidebook 28-08 published by the French centre for scientific and technical building research (CSTB)
By itself, multilayer tubing is not fire-resistant. However, when combined with Armaflex insulation, Comap Multiskin multilayer tubing has an M1 (European) fire classification.
Comap multilayer tubing brings together all of the advantages of plastic and metal solutions.
It has an aluminium core and internal and external layers of PEX. This gives it undeniable advantages compared to copper and PEX:
Comap multilayer tubing is made of five layers, including one internal and one external layer in PEX and an aluminium core. Thicker, easier to work with and, in one respect, higher-quality than PEX, it brings together all the advantages of plastic and metal solutions. The heavy thickness of the aluminium in Comap Multiskin tubing (minimum of 0.4 mm) helps it stay straight and helps keep its bends in place, and it contributes to total oxygen impermeability.
Yes. The Comap MultiSkin multilayer tubing and fittings system may be encased in slabs without protective sleeving if the water temperature does not exceed 60° C and if the screed had a minimum thickness of 4.5 cm.
The Comap MultiSkin multilayer system is a TH-type press-fit system (THL for 32 mm diameter). The Comap MultiSkin multilayer tubing and fitting system is compatible with the main tool brands on the market, as mentioned in the technical notice: Novopress, Virax, Klauke, REMS and Rothenberger.
Yes. The Comap MultiSkin multilayer tubing and fittings system is compatible with shock chlorine treatment. However, do not exceed a free chlorine concentration of 0.3 mg/L at 75° C for ongoing disinfection treatment, or 0.6 mg/L for three hours for shock treatment.
Comap PEX tubing with anti-oxidant barrier is recommended for heating and under-floor heating installations. The anti-oxidant barrier, made of a layer of EVOH (ethylene vinyl alcohol), prevents oxygen from entering. It also limits the formation of slime in the system, and promotes long tube life in installations. In addition, the barrier makes the tube more flexible, which means it's easier to install — particularly in under-floor heating.
The Comap PexPress system of PEX tubing and fittings is ideal for centralised heating distribution systems ('octopus' systems) and combine perfectly with Comap distribution kits. It is also useful for connection of sanitary equipment, e.g.: Comaplak Valve attachment kit. (Ex. : Valve attachment kit) Temperature and pressure limits must not be exceeded (-10° to 80° C, and up to 6 bar of pressure, depending on the utilisation class).
The installation conditions recommended by Comap for the PexPress system of tubes and press-fittings are in technical guidebook 28-08 published by the French centre for scientific and technical building research (CSTB)
No. The Comap PexPress system of PEX tubing and press-fittings has not undergone any testing of this kind, and we recommend against this use.
The Comap PexPress system in PEX is a CO-type press-fit system. The Comap PexPress PEX system of tubing and press-fitting is compatible with the main tool brands on the market, as mentioned in the technical notice: Novopress, Virax, Klauke, REMS and Rothenberger.
Comap manual valves are still important wherever centralised heating control is used.
The DEMOBLOC tool allows you to "thermostatise" a Comap manual water valve (up to 3/4") without draining the installation. It is simple and quick, with no complications such as air bubbles in the circuit.
Yes, it can, thanks to the Comap dual-adjustment manual valve. This unit allows flow control while it enables temperature regulation. Adjustment that conforms to the radiator's needs, in accordance with the charts provided by Comap, is necessary. If a single-adjustment valve is installed, balancing is done with a lockshield valve, which is also fitted to the radiator.
Thermostatic valves work in combination with the thermostatic head that is installed on the thermostat body. This assembly gives more convenience and a more homogeneous temperature to the user, while providing real energy savings — up to 29% compared with a radiator equipped with a manual valve.
Adjustable-flow thermostatic valves guarantee correct function of emitters by balancing flow to radiators. They are more precise and easier to adjust because of the adjustment wheel (a small tool). The settings for desired flow rate are clearly indicated on Comap thermostatic valves, for optimal legibility.
Comap thermostatic heads are comprised of a sensor element that expands and contracts depending on the room temperature. The assembly exerts pressure on the needle of the thermostatic valve (upon which the head is mounted), opening and closing the flapper. It allows water to pass through the radiator when the temperature detected in the room is lower than the temperature selected by the user, and closes the flapper when the desired temperature is attained.
Complete thermostatic valves (head and body) function in winter and in summer. When heating is turned off, the room temperature, which may be high, often causes the valve's rubber flapper to stay under pressure too long, and it can become stuck. Until now, the solution consisted of reducing risk by opening the head all the way (setting 5 in the summer) and tapping lightly on all the surfaces of the valve body with a hammer, until the unit is unstuck (without tapping or touching the needle).
Today, the new design of Comap thermostatic valve flappers, launched in 2013, avoids sticking even if you forget to open the head. Comap innovation, for your peace of mind and comfort.
Comap offers two threaded connection sizes for the head to the thermostatic body: M28 x 1.5 and M30 x 1.5 Heads with M30 x 1.5 connections have a notch around the connecting collar to differentiate them from M28 x 1.5 heads. The protective cover of the M30 x 1.5 body is completely round, lacking the slots on the M28 x 1.5 version.
These popping noises happen because the flow to the valve is going backwards. It is not always easy to see the supply lines coming from the floor or the wall.A valve must always be supplied from beneath the flapper, which means from the supplying line.
To address this malfunction, Comap redesigned the flappers in its thermostatic valves in 2013. The flapper is reversible and functions silently, equally well in one direction as in the other.
A Comap thermostatic head is installed on a thermostat body. It is necessary to make sure the assembly is fitted correctly and is functioning. Comap thermostatic bodies and heads are all compatible with one another. In addition, Keymark (EN215) standard compliance and Comap heads' energy efficiency guarantee the quality and efficiency of the Comap thermostatic solution.
Yes, Comap thermostatic valves are part of the French government's energy-efficiency certification program (https://www.ecologie.gouv.fr/dispositif-des-certificats-deconomies-denergie). It is required that thermostatic valves be installed by a professional.
Thermostatic heads and bodies are subject to strict standards (EN215). The temperature offset is calculated; this determines their efficiency. It is the value that is entered into calculations of energy consumption (used in the French RT 2012 regulations). The figures for Comap heads are available from the Certita certification organisation: https://www.eurovent-certification.com/fr/third-party-certification/certification-programmes/tv.
Because they are regulation devices, Comap thermostatic valves are considered when calculating the tax credit for certain tax credits for sustainable-development expenses for your main home, if you are resident in France for tax purposes. Attention: The regulations have been updated for the 2015 declaration (spending in 2014).
Comap safety units open and emit water as soon as pressure reaches 7 bar. If the cold-water system's pressure is greater than 7 bar, install a pressure reducer to allow the unit to function properly. If the safety unit still leaks, particularly during periods of low use, check the pressure reducer's water-tightness.
Do this test at the entry to the house, or near the water tank.
Optima castellated tiles are modular and lightweight. They are easily and quickly installed by one person, with a minimum of trimming loss. The tube slides between the studs in one step and stays firmly in place. The anti-vapour film ensures proper covering between tiles, so they do not require additional protection against humidity and the concrete covering can be poured directly. In addition to ensuring improved thermal insulation, it also provides considerable acoustic insulation of 28 dBA.
At this point, Comap has decided to concentrate on low-temperature under-floor heating and cooling. Comap hydraulic under-floor cooling and heating systems' efficiency, ease of installation and durability are well-known and proven.
UIt can be repaired, thanks to the many fittings available from Comap. Follow these steps:
Remember to note the location of the repair on a diagram.
No, low-temperature, hot-water-based under-floor heating is not dangerous for health in any way, and does not cause harm to the legs. The initial temperature of water in the pipes is 50° C at most. At the surface, the temperature is 28° C (in accordance with the EN1264 standard).
The dry system is the most compact. You will need 5 cm (2 in) of space: 2.5 cm (1 in) for the insulating slab and 2.5 cm for the Fermacell layer.
Certainly. Hot-water under-floor heating functions at low and very low temperatures; as a result, it is a low-energy-consumption emitter. It is part of the French government's energy-efficiency certification program (CEE): https://www.ecologie.gouv.fr/dispositif-des-certificats-deconomies-denergie.
The ideal solution is the Optima castellated insulation system. An arrangement of very sturdy studs (10 T/m² compressive strength) protects tubes from damage and allows them to be placed at a constant width.
Created by the Cochebat heating and cooling component manufacturers' association, it is a gauge of quality that guarantees an overall level of thermal efficiency for hydraulic low-temperature under-floor heating and cooling systems. This label applies to products with two specific insulation resistance values, R=0.75 and R=2.4. Comap offers these systems under two names, Optima and Planea.
CERTITHERM websiteThe differential pressure valve is used in installations with variable flow rates, such as installations with thermostatic valves or motorised two-way zone valves. When thermostatic valves are closed, the differential valve bypasses part of the flow and limits the maximum differential pressure generated by the pump.
The Comap 872 pressure differential valve is recommended for variable-flow chilled-water installations. It bypasses part of the flow if valves are closed, limiting the maximum differential pressure generated by the pump.
Balance! Balancing valves distribute the flow to the right place within the circuit. The system can be designed exactly to size, and the costs associated with over-sizing components, such as pumps, disappear.
Energy consumption is reduced, as are the noises caused by water circulating too quickly. In homes, emitters receive the correct flow and function optimally, bringing residents more comfort.
Comap balancing can affect all heating, cooling and climate-control installations, in service networks as well as in multi-family housing. Balancing valves also contribute to the correct functioning of domestic hot and cold water systems. They facilitate the installation of circulation loops in order to eliminate dead legs, which can encourage development of legionella bacteria.
